The AEMC Model PEL 52 (2137.71) is a compact, portable power and energy data logger equipped with a high-contrast backlit LCD screen, engineered for single-phase, split-phase, and dual-channel electrical energy auditing. Supplied without current sensors, this package configuration provides electrical contractors, energy auditors, and maintenance technicians with the flexibility to deploy existing compatible AEMC current sensors such as MiniFlex Rogowski coils or rigid current transformers tailored to specific installation amperages and physical conductor dimensions. It is purpose-built to conduct load studies in compliance with NEC 220.87, sub-metering surveys, and long-term energy trend recording without requiring costly shutdowns or interruptions to the monitored network. Designed to interface with single-phase 2-wire, single-phase 3-wire (split-phase 120/240 V), and dual single-phase networks up to 600 V CAT III, the PEL 52 continuously samples two voltage and two current channels at 128 samples per cycle (synchronous 6.4 kHz at 50 Hz / 7.68 kHz at 60 Hz). It provides comprehensive true-RMS monitoring across vital electrical parameters, including RMS voltage and current, active (W), reactive (var), and apparent (VA) power, power factor (PF), displacement power factor (cos φ/DPF), frequency, and total harmonic distortion (THD). The instrument records aggregated 1-second energy totals and configurable trend intervals up to 1 hour, saving high-resolution historical datasets directly to an included 8 GB SD/SDHC flash memory card (expandable to 32 GB). Engineered for straightforward panel deployment, the PEL 52 features a rugged, impact-resistant casing equipped with powerful rear mounting magnets that adhere directly to the interior steel surfaces of distribution panels and breaker enclosures. This enables distribution cabinet doors to remain closed and secured during live logging campaigns, satisfying NFPA 70E arc-flash personal safety protocols. The logger integrates a built-in Wi-Fi access point and web server alongside USB connectivity, allowing wireless real-time monitoring, instrument configuration, and automated reporting from any Android, iOS, or Windows device using the included AEMC DataView software suite and PEL Control Panel.
