The AEMC Model MF 3000-14-1-1 HF (2126.86) is a specialized high-capacity, high-frequency flexible AC current probe engineered for direct interfacing with digital storage oscilloscopes, transient recorders, and power analyzers equipped with standard BNC inputs. Operating on the Rogowski coil inductive principle, this sensor measures True RMS alternating currents up to 3000 A without breaking electrical circuits or interrupting plant operations. Designed to overcome access limitations in densely packed electrical equipment, the probe incorporates a slim 0.2-inch (5 mm) cross-section, 14-inch (350 mm) flexible Rogowski loop that wraps effortlessly around large industrial conductors, multiple bundled cables, and busbars where rigid mechanical current clamps cannot fit. Engineered with an optimized wideband air-core coil architecture and an active electronic integration module, the MF 3000-14-1-1 HF provides an extensive measurement frequency bandwidth from 5 Hz to 1 MHz (@ -3 dB). It delivers a calibrated single-range output sensitivity of 1 mV/A (up to 3 V AC full scale at 3000 A) with high measurement linearity across dynamic current excursions. Because the sensor utilizes an air-core construction with no iron laminations, it exhibits zero magnetic core saturation, negligible circuit insertion impedance, and no hysteresis, delivering an accuracy of ±1% of reading ± 0.2 A. Its wide frequency envelope and minimal phase shift allow engineers to analyze high-speed switching transients, thyristor/SCR firings, PWM carrier frequencies, and complex distorted current waveforms without inductive waveform clipping. Constructed for rigorous laboratory benchmarking and harsh field plant environments, the 14-inch flexible sensor loop is fabricated from heavy-duty elastomer resistant to oils, chemicals, and aliphatic hydrocarbons, withstanding operating temperatures up to 194°F (90°C). The lightweight in-line electronics module features a positive slide power switch, a green battery status indicator, and a red LED overload alert triggered when output voltage exceeds 4.5 V. Powered by a standard 9 V alkaline battery delivering over 140 hours of continuous runtime, the probe terminates in a shielded coaxial cable with an insulated male BNC connector compatible with 1 MΩ instrument inputs. Fully compliant with international safety standards EN/IEC 61010-1 and EN/IEC 61010-2-032, the sensor loop is rated 1000 V CAT III and 600 V CAT IV, ensuring operator protection during complex electrical audits.
