PCE-RGB2 Colorimeter For RGB (red, green, blue) or HSL (hue, saturation, luminance) color measurements
PCE-RGB2 is a colorimeter for RGB (red, green, blue) or HSL (hue, saturation, luminance) color measurements. The color meter's 45 ° / 0 ° measurement geometry and 16 mm / ≈ 0.63" diameter aperture accommodate standardized color measurement methods on a variety of surfaces. The handheld color-measuring probe is connected to the colorimeter via a 1.5 m / 4.9' long cable, allowing a wide range of motion for the color measurement procedure.

The PCE-RGB2 color meter employs the spectral method of color measurement using a defined source of light for illumination of the sample. The light is reflected by the sample's surface and then measured by the instrument. However, this device also can take relative measurements of luminous surfaces, such as LCD screens and LED lights.

Color measurement results are shown clearly on the colorimeter's easy-to-read digital display. Using the optional software and RS-232 cable, the color measurement results can be transferred to a computer for further analysis.
The PCE-RGB2 colorimeter is used widely by manufacturing quality control and assurance professionals for color spot checks during the production process.

RGB color space
The RGB color space is a basic additive color model mixed with white. One color is defined by three values. Each value is a percentage of red, green and blue. Each percentage can be vary between 0% and 100%.

HSL color space
The HSL color space includes hue, saturation and luminance. The HSL color space does not consider a white point as one without color, but as a neutral point of grey, somewhere between black and white. The HSL color space is represented as a sphere, a cylinder or a prism with six sides, with the hues and grey point in the center. See diagrams above for more details.
