The Dakota Ultrasonics MMX-7 v2.0 thickness gauge has all the features of the ZX gauges with some additional advantages. The MMX-7 features Pulse-Echo mode for pit and flaw detection and Echo-Echo mode for through paint and coatings, and users can conveniently toggle between the two modes.
The MMX-7 uses a highly damped, dual-element-style transducer for both modes, eliminating the need to switch between transducer types. The gauge is equipped with a transducer list for improved linearity, multiple calibration and selectable material type options. Transducers with an HD (high damped) designation are commonly used for E-E (echo-echo) through paint modes, CPZT (composite) are used for additional output with materials that are difficult to pass sound through, and standard diameter/frequency transducers are used for P-E (pulse-echo) mode.
