The Dakota Ultrasonics PR-8V is an advanced ultrasonic thickness tester designed for the automotive and racing industries. It's most commonly used to measure the thickness of cylinder walls, head ports, decks, chassis tubing, body panels, and windshields. The PR-8V includes a time-based B-Scan feature that displays a cross-section of the opposite surface, allowing engine builders the ability to see the profile/contour of the back surface while scanning cylinders.
The PR-8V features two measurement modes. The Standard Mode (Pulse-Echo Mode) is for use with a variety of common material types and includes variable gain options (vlow, low, medium, high, vhigh) in 3dB increments (40 to 52dB range), for increased penetration or resolution and is ideal for pit & flaw detection. The Multi-Mode (Echo-Echo Mode) is used to measure chassis tubing with or without paint and coatings and includes built-in automatic gain control and selectable gain options (low, medium, and high).
The Dakota Ultrasonics PR-8V ultrasonic thickness tester can store up to 64 custom setups and factory setups are available for common applications. Additionally, the PR-8V has visual and audible Hi and Lo limit alarms to signal when the measurements are out of tolerance. The internal data logger of the PR-8V has been customized for both the engine builder and the chassis inspector. Selectable cylinder mapping or general alpha numeric file storage will satisfy your reporting needs.
