The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is one of the oldest standards-developing organizations in America, having developed hundreds of standards that cover a wide range of technical areas including boiler and pressure vessels, fasteners, pipelines, and many more. ASME’s standards are recognized in more than 100 countries as tools to meet their regulatory objectives. ASME standards are developed by experts using an open, consensus-based process and provide clear rules covering the design, fabrication, installation, inspection, care, and use of component systems. Examples include standards on materials, welding and brazing procedures and qualifications, nondestructive examination, and inspection.
