Temperatures are measured and recorded in a variety of applications. For example, HVAC technicians measure temperatures to identify and solve problems in heating or cooling systems, while quality control workers in the food sector measure temperatures to ensure storage and preparation of everything from food and produce to frozen cheese. A temperature gauge is a tool used to measure the temperature of a creature or object. The most widely known temperature gauge is the mercury thermometer which is used to measure the temperature of people. This thermometer consists of a graduated glass capillary with mercury at one end. However, there are different types of temperature gauges, such as digital thermometers that take temperature measurements while using an object or temperature gauges that take distance measurements, without contact.
