The UE Systems Ultraprobe 100 Ultrasonic Inspection System is an analog tool that senses high frequency sounds produced by operating equipment, leaks and electrical discharges. The signals are electronically translated by heterodyning, which converts the high frequency sounds into the audible range so they are easily recognized and understood. The user can both hear the sounds through a headset and view them as intensity increments on the Ultraprobe gun's LED meter.
The Ultraprobe 100 features an 8-position sensitivity dial with decibel indications, and an LED bar graph display in which each LED equals approximately 3dB for calculating decibel levels.
Ultrasound technology is advantageous for inspection because it produces a high-frequency, short-wave signal. Since it is directional and localized, it is ideal for point-and-shoot troubleshooting. It can also be easily blocked or shielded and used in noisy environments. Changes in ultrasound provide early warning of potential problems.
