Crowcon Gas-Pro IR 4-Gas Confined Space Entry Monitor, Non Pumped, Includes Flow Plate and Multi Region PSU (10 Model In This Family). The Crowcon Gas Pro IR with PID Personal Four Gas Detector – Non-Pumped features both an infrared sensor (IR) and PID sensor to expand this gas detector’s scope for use.Its IR sensor makes it ideal for detecting CO2 and flammable gases, such as methane, pentane and propane. This sensor, unlike a pellistor sensor, does not require oxygen to function and so remains operational in areas with an oxygen concentration of less than 5% of the local atmosphere, such as in storage tanks purged with inert gas, or confined spaces. Furthermore, the Crowcon Gas Pro’s IR sensor is resistant to silicon poisoning as it measures a wavelength which absorbs gas and a wavelength that does not absorb gas. This ensures that the IR sensor remains responsive and highly sensitive to gases making it inherently safer and more cost-effective than other pellistor sensor gas detectors, making it ideal for use in the oil and gas industries. The Crowcon Gas Pro’s PID sensor also facilitates this product’s use in gas and oil industries as the PID sensor detects volatile organic compounds, such as methane, which are prone to evaporate at room temperature. Vapours from gasoline, diesel, heating oil, kerosene and jet fuel all contain volatile organic compounds as do solvents, paint thinners and glues, therefore the PID sensor extends the versatility of the Crowcon Gas Pro Personal Four Gas Detector. For further information regarding the way the PID sensor operates, please see the video below.
