The AEMC Model MR193-BK (2140.28) is a professional-grade Hall-effect current probe designed for precise alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) measurements in conjunction with AEMC PowerPad power quality analyzers and PEL series power and energy loggers. Featuring dual-range measurement capability, the probe integrates high-linearity Hall-effect elements and magnetic core circuitry to deliver stable True-RMS readings across a broad dynamic span. Its ergonomic, clamp-on design allows non-intrusive current acquisition around primary conductors and multi-cable bundles without requiring circuit disconnection or de-energizing switchgear. Equipped with a dedicated 4-pin black connector, the MR193-BK provides seamless plug-and-play electronic probe identification when mated to compatible AEMC host instruments. Upon connection, the host analyzer immediately recognizes the probe type, sets internal attenuation and scaling parameters, and receives power directly from the host device, completely eliminating the need for internal batteries. The probe measures AC currents from 1 A up to 1000 A AC and DC currents up to 1400 A DC (with operational ranges extending to 1000 A peak AC and 1400 A DC), while offering a convenient push-button zero-adjust feature on the probe body for precise DC offset nulling prior to logging. Engineered to meet the stringent demands of industrial maintenance and utility applications, the MR193-BK provides heavy-duty electrical insulation rated for 1000 V CAT III and 600 V CAT IV according to IEC/EN 61010-2-032. The robust jaw accommodates cables up to 1.65 inches (42 mm) in diameter and busbars up to 1.97 x 0.19 inches (50 x 5 mm), making it well-suited for heavy commercial panels, motor control centers (MCCs), and battery storage banks. A permanently attached 10-foot (3-meter) double-insulated, shielded lead ensures safe working distances between the operator and energized electrical conductors.
