The Alicat Scientific Whisper MCW series mass flow controller is an accurate, versatile and dependable instrument designed to take the guess work out of precision gas flow control. Suitable for a wide range of applications, the MCW series combines Alicat's innovative laminar flow technology with low-drop proportional control valves and high-sensitivity differential pressure sensors making them particularly well-suited to applications that have minimal differential pressure availability, such as leak checking, gas analysis and totalizing, or natural gas applications.
The Alicat Scientific's Whisper MCW Series was designed to exceed the requirements that customers place on mass flow controllers. Flow ranges are available from 0.5 standard cubic centimeters per minute to 500 standard liters per minute with a 200:1 turndown ratio and pressure drops as low as 3.6 mbar, or 0.052 psi. Basic accuracy is ±0.8% of reading ±0.2% of full scale. Calibrated and ready for use with 20 gases and 10 gas blends, The Whisper MCW series has a remarkably fast start-up time and a response time of just 10 milliseconds.
The Alicat Scientifics Whisper MCW Series mass flow controller is an extremely versatile instrument. In addition to mass flow measurements, the MCW Series also measures pressure, temperature and volumetric flow, meaning fewer instruments to buy and install. The MCW series meter can also be equipped with an Alicat 9V battery pack to make a stand alone secondary calibration standard or flow verification meter. Alicat's patented technology allows its mass flow controllers to have very few moving parts. All of the internal components are fixed in place resulting in very little physical change inside the mass flow meter. Little physical change in the flow cavity means higher rates of consistency and repeatability.
Alicat Scientific Whisper MCW Series mass flow controllers were designed to be used as a stand-alone device. All measured parameters are displayed in real time on the digital display. Any measured parameter can be brought to the center of the screen. The push button interface allows easy configuration of the meter without the need for computers, complicated software or scripts. The MCW Series features Gas Select which allows users to select from 30 gases and gas blends via the display or through the RS-232 interface. Remote displays are also available. Whisper MCW Series mass flow controllers are equipped with multiple analog inputs and outputs in addition to the RS-232 digital input and output.

1 Stated accuracy is after tare under equilibrium conditions. Extreme gas behavior (especially near state boundaries) can introduce additional flow uncertainties.
2 Achievable steady state control may be limited by user-configurable PID tuning and process conditions. Dynamic control performance is also limited by control response time, which may vary with the flow rate.
3 Indication response time includes user-adjustable averaging up to 255 ms.
MECHANICAL:
Minimum Operating Pressure: 11.5 PSIA common mode pressure (lower operating pressures available); Differential pressure must exceed model pressure drop, see below for details
Maximum Operating Pressure: Damage possible above 80 PSIA common mode pressure; Damage possible above 15 PSID differential pressure
Ingress Protection: IP40 (consult Alicat for weatherproofing options)
