The Mounting/Leveling Base is a mount to attach a rain gage to a pole or pipe and then to level the gage for accurate measurements. It mounts to the top of a pole or pipe, and then the rain gage is mounted on the mounting/leveling base and leveled with adjusting screws.
It is designed to mount to a user-supplied 1.5 IPS (1.9" OD, unthreaded) pipe and should be long enough to place the gage's orifice at a one-meter height. The pole or pipe can be placed directly into a concrete foundation, attached to a concrete foundation using j-bolts, or self-supported with legs. A concrete pad is recommended.
