The StratoTest 4500 C is a hand-held instrument designed to measure the thickness of refractory linings in kilns used in cement and brick production. Instead of the traditional method of drilling approx. 200 holes for inspection, the StratoTest only requires one single borehole for calibration, and from that point on it measures the lining thickness non-invasively. The electromagnetic measuring process is non-destructive and without danger to the operator. StratoTest 4500 C allows the operator to determine the lining thickness of cement, dolomite, magnetite, or fireclay bricks in rotary kilns quickly and thus helps to significantly reduce inspection times and effort. Refractory bricks undergo degradation resulting in a decrease in mechanical properties. In order to monitor the thickness of these bricks, StratoTest 4500 C is the ideal tool to determine the state of the lining in industrial furnaces and rotary kilns. StratoTest works on the electromagnetic measurement principle using the metal of the kiln shell as a measuring reflector. When the disc-shaped probe approaches the kiln shell, its electromagnetic files change depending on the distance to the metal.
