The Chauvin Arnoux CA5231 True RMS Digital Multimeter is an accurate and precise multimeter which can give readings for AC/DC voltage up to 1000V, AC/DC current readings up to 600A (only with an optional current clamp), and resistance values up to 60MΩ. Several different ranges and resolutions are available for all three parameters and reliability is guaranteed by basic accuracy of 0.2%. Continuity and diode testing ca be carried out with the CA5231 and the True RMS measurement makes it suitable for inspecting non-linear circuits. LowZ AC voltage detection also aids accuracy as it helps prevent problems with disturbance voltage.
Results are shown on the Chauvin Arnoux CA5231’s blue, backlit screen which also has an analogue bar graph and indicates whether a circuit is AC or DC. The user operates the device through a simple dial and data hold allows a reading to be frozen on screen when necessary. Two OFF positions on the dial increase usability and one also enables non-contact voltage detection which turns the screen red if voltage is present.
An articulated Multistand™ allows the Chauvin Arnoux CA5231 to sit upright on ledges and uneven surfaces whilst protective rubber casing protects against the rigours of regular use. An IP54 rating shows that the instrument is resistant to challenging environments and various protective measures mean that it can withstand overloads up to 8000V. It is safety rated as 600V for Cat IV and 1000V for Cat III.
The Chauvin Arnoux CA5231 is supplied with a range of accessories including test leads, test probes and a battery. To add an optional current clamp, simply click the checkbox at the top of the page. It stands out for its extremely clear screen as well as its useful non-contact voltage detection capability.
