The VS120-09 is ideal for viewing hard-to-reach or hard-to-see areas containing equipment, or the interiors of equipment enclosures. Examples include:

• Inspecting the undercarriage of a vehicle or hidden surfaces of parts in its engine compartment
• Inspecting gasoline engine cylinders, pistons and valves through the spark plug hole
• Inspecting engine block coolant passages through the freeze plug hole

The system has two main components: a wand-type grip housing a 2.4 in. (61mm) diagonal color LCD above a control panel; and a detachable, camera-tipped probe which retains its shape after being bent. The included probe, which is 39 in. (1m) long, has a diameter of 0.35 in. (9mm) and a glass lens and is oil, water and dust-proof to the IP67 standard. Optional accessories include the 9mm diameter probe in 2m and 3m lengths, and 5.5mm (0.22 in.) diameter probes in lengths of 1m, 2m and 3m. These probe specifications make the VS120-09 ideal for most automotive applications. The system can be operated with one hand, leaving your other hand free to use tools.

The control panel has only five buttons (power on/off, brightness up, brightness down, video zoom, and video flip), making the VS120-09 very easy to use—and learn to use. Live video within the probe’s 60° field of view is automatically displayed on the color LCD. The supplied probe has a depth of field of 1 to 12 in. (25 to 300mm). The video zoom and flip functions make the VS120-09 an even more valuable inspection tool. Doubling the size of a target in the video frame makes it less likely that any problem involving the target will be overlooked. The reason to invert video is to align the probe’s field of view with its real-world surroundings.

In practical terms, this function makes it easier to read upside-down labels and serial numbers by flipping them right-side up.

The VS120-09’s grip, probe and four useful probe tip accessories sized for the tip of the 9mm probe (a thread protector, a 45° mirror, a pickup hook and a magnetic pickup) are supplied in a hard plastic carrying case along with this user’s manual.
